THE UK air conditioning market grew to £662.8m last year, according to a new report from MBD. This represented an overall increase of 10% in nominal terms compared to 2000.

Haier appoints new distributor

HAIER, the Chinese air conditioning manufacturer, has appointed Portsmouth-based Hushon as its fourth distributor in the UK. Hushon joins a network that includes BSS, Kooltech and NRW. The company also distributes Hitecsa air conditioning products, Danvent air handling systems and, until recently, was a distributor of LG air conditioners.

Government to reform the TUPE regulations

The DTI has launched a consultation on draft regulations to update the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981 (TUPE), to improve protection for employees and helping business by reducing transactions costs when companies change ownership.
