Why not just bolt the unit straight to the wall by the feet?

Graham Hendra casts his technical eye over the daft and the dangerous work unearthed by readers.
Why not just bolt the unit straight to the wall by the feet?
'This is an installation in Germany which has obviously been installed by a genius on a budget.

To save the hassle of using wall brackets why not just bolt the unit straight to the wall by the feet.

I assume this unit had a short compressor life as the compressor is supposed to be mounted vertically to keep the oil at the bottom, but in this case the compressor will be vertical, so no lubrication.

I expect the manufacturer had to attend the site after six warranty claims for compressors, once he got to site all warranty claims would be voided.

But think on the bright side at least there is good airflow to the coil and it's easy to maintain'.
