A pilot training scheme set up with hurleypalmerflatt's help at Trox's UK headquarters in Thetford, Norfolk offers the mechanical engineer insight into a manufacturer's environment and a chance to develop skills on certain terminal air conditioning systems.

Training sessions are given on a range of terminal air conditioning systems manufactured by TROX and includes air distribution, chilled beams, VAV, as well as visits to engineering design, estimating, laboratory and sites. Engineers are able to put what they learn into practice by preparing designs and completing tenders.

Paul Clark, associate director and head of technical training at
John Naguib of hurleypalmerflatt attended the first series of programmes. Clark said: 'The purpose of my work placement was to ascertain the business strategy of TROX UK and to understand the work entailed to produce the products required for heating, ventilation and air conditioning incorporated within the built environment.

The placement shows end to end process from telephone sales to end product, and the processes which the manufacturer must adhere to achieve what has been specified.

Terry Farthing, head of communications and TROX academy, said: 'Our aim is to offer industry based training in areas that will benefit the design engineer. Further programmes are planned for the future and any design engineers who are interested should contact me at TROX.'
