When the organisers of Winter Coat Amnesty decided not to run its charity collection this year, Cool Designs stepped in
with its own warm clothing scheme on behalf of Crisis Christmas.
Managing director of the Toshiba air conditioning distributor, Darrel Birkett said: “We took part in last year’s collection and believe it was a great success. When we heard it would not be running this year, we contacted Crisis and said we would be happy to set up a collecting station on our premises and deliver donations of warm clothing to them for distribution to homeless people.”
In addition to warm clothing, the company is inviting donations from customers, staff and family members of food and hygiene items. CDL has also extended its Children’s Christmas Appeal this year, building on the success of last year’s initiative.
CDL is working with local company Ethical Store, an ethically produced goods specialist and buying products in bulk for distribution in December. It is also working with the Homeless Society in Cheshire to make a donation of much needed items in its area.
