Carrier Rental Systems acquires Watkins Hire

Carrier Rental Systems (UK), Ltd, one of the UK’s leading temperature control rental specialists, has acquired Watkins Hire as part of its long-term growth strategy.

Carrier Rental Systems operates a nationwide rental service for high-performance chillers, air handling units, heaters and boilers, and works with related businesses in the UK, SLD Pumps & Power and Toshiba Carrier UK, to offer a complete service for industry, buildings and events. It is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

Watkins Hire supplies specialist temperature control rental equipment focused on steam boilers, heating and hot water boilers, air conditioning and chillers for temperature control projects across the UK. With headquarters in Lydney, Gloucestershire, the firm has branches in the midlands and north of England, as well as Scotland, and operates a specialist division to provide equipment for major events.

Richard Jones, managing director HVAC UK, said: “We are delighted to have Watkins Hire become a part of our heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) business in the UK. Watkins Hire is a respected company within the UK temperature control rental sector and will further enhance our ability to serve our customers – in terms of geographic presence, equipment availability and choice of service and product offerings.
