Air-conditioning appreciation days are here again!
[firstParagraph]
Only in America, one may argue, would a place in the calender be set aside to celebrate with Air-conditioning Appreciation Days, which runs from July 3 to August 15.
The US trade association the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) has claimed this period as its 'Air Conditioning Appreciation Days.'
The association wants every US homeowner to know the appreciating or caring for their air conditioner will save them money and keep equipment running smoothly during the hottest part of the summer.
Perhaps it is only fitting that most of July and half of the hot and sweaty month of August is dedicated to appreciating air-conditioning. Where would we all be without air-conditioning? How would office workers if not homeowners cope without it? The man who is widely attributed with inventing air-conditioning is Willis Carrier in 1906.
The correct way to observe the rituals of air conditioning appreciation day is to arrange for checks to be made on your ac systems to ensure they are working properly.
The US has perhaps quite rightly set aside some pause for thought for ac. If history is anything to go by, it may not be long before this consideration of all things ac crosses the pond.
