Ziehl-Abegg wins recognition from Spanish Embassy

German motor and fan manufacturer Ziehl-Abegg has been recognised by the Embassy of Spain for its commitment to foreign co-workers through a project entitled ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ with Deutsche Bank.

Many companies in Germany have problems finding qualified staff, particularly medium-sized companies located in remote areas. Through an international campaign, Ziehl-Abegg has demonstrated how to successfully recruit overseas staff.

It actively promotes its welcome culture to recruit specialised employees from southern and eastern Europe. Whether with language courses or relocating to a new home, the company not only secures its own long-term future but also contributes to projecting a positive image of the region.

Dr. Ulrich Schürenkrämer, head of regional management south of Deutsche Bank, presented the award and said: 'Ziehl-Abegg shows us how we can develop future perspectives on the countryside: not only with innovative concepts in human resources management but, above all, with a strong commitment and entrepreneurial vision.”

Jesús Bueno Gil, general secretary for employment and social services at the Spanish Embassy in Berlin was grateful for the opportunity offered to his young compatriots. He said: 'They are being given the chance to develop their professional potential and at the same time feel at home. The friendly welcome and extensive help make it much easier for Spanish people to get used to a new working and living environment.

Ziehl-Abegg ceo Peter Fenkl added: 'We are very proud to be a ‘Selected Landmark in the Land of Ideas’. Ziehl-Abegg, being located in a fairly remote area, was looking for a solution to the lack of qualified staff, driven by its own interests. Thanks to this latest distinction our proceedings are now seen as a possible model across the nation, which is a source of delight to all those concerned.'
