The new business will provide a comprehensive range of services, including electrical design, installation and testing to NICEIC approved installer standards.

Patrick Mullins, business development and marketing director, said: 'We see electrical services as a key part of our offering to customers. It is an essential element in most refrigeration and air conditioning projects, and offers growth opportunities in the electrical field in its own right.'

He added: 'The new operation provides us with a highly competitive, motivated and experienced in-house electrical design and installation capability, working to WR Refrigeration's exacting standards. It is good for customers and confers a significant competitive advantage in the market for WR Refrigeration.'

WR Electrical will be headquartered in Leicester and Cardiff, with electrical projects being carried out nationally by specialist satellite teams, managed by electrical designers.

It will initially employ 20 electrical engineers, with additional staff being taken on as the business expands. All electrical staff will qualified to the 17th edition IET Electrical Wiring Regulations and carry ECS Skill Cards.

In addition to providing specialist electrical support on WR Refrigeration projects, WR Electrical will offer electrical services as a stand-alone proposition.

Mike Nicholas, managing director, said: 'We see significant opportunities in relation to both commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning, in addition to pure electrical installation work.

'The new business is fully equipped to carry out all kinds of electrical and data installations, including control panel building and CAD design.'
