UK base for MHI's new dedicated acr business

JAPAN: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary in the UK to oversee its air conditioning and refrigeration interests in Europe.

The new company will be created by detaching the acr operations of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Europe (MHIE) from its subsidiary in London that currently manages all MHI's business in Europe.

A Mitsubishi statement from Japan says 'The founding of the new company is aimed at expanding sales in its focus markets through the establishment of a dynamic business structure conducive to performing proposal-type marketing activities.'

The new business (MHIAE) will operate from a new head office in Stockley Park near Heathrow Airport. In addition to taking over the sales and marketing operations for resdiential and commercial packaged air conditioning from MHIE, the new company will also take charge of heat-pump type hot water supply systems and large-size centrifugal chillers currently handled from Japan. In addition to Europe, its markets will also include the CIS and Russia.

As well as heat pumps and other high efficiency equipment, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries says the new business will also introduce optimal equipment combinations suited to each customer's operating environment and usage conditions. MHIAE will also establish a facility that will serve as both a product showroom and an after-sale service training centre.

Air conditioning units will be sourced direct from the company's factory in Thailand.

The establishment of MHIAE is part of an ongoing initiative to establish companies dedicated to its air conditioning and refrigeration business in all overseas markets.
To date, in 2009 MHI established Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners Australia, Pty (MHIAA) in Sydney to oversee its acr business in the Oceania region; in 2010, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners (Shanghai) Co (MHIAS); and in 2011, MHI Residential Air-Conditioners (Shanghai) Co (MHIRS), a home-use ac marketing and after-sale service company jointly established with one of China's major home appliance retail chains.
