Tube air con solution moves closer
[firstParagraph]
LONDON Underground is getting closer to solving the problem of excessive heat on the Tube.
Temperatures this summer reached 40ºC but finding a way to reject heat from some of the deep-level lines and stations has proved to be a problem. Following groundwater cooling trials at Victoria station last summer, London Underground is to extend its trials to other stations starting with Stockwell where borehole water will be used to cool the station. In addition, a £3.1bn upgrade of four lines will include a new fleet of 190 air conditioned trains.
