Skaters get ice time from Cool Energy

SKATERS at 42 ice rinks across Europe have chiller rental specialist ICS Cool Energy to thank for creating a sub zero world this Christmas.

Throughout winter, Cool Energy is providing temporary ice rinks with rental chillers at venues around Europe including Cornwall's Eden Project.

One of many cool attractions created by the Hampshire-based firm is Eden's rink. Situated near the Rainforest and Mediterranean biomes, is probably the only place in the world where visitors can go from subzero to subtropical.

Cool Energy has supplied a FOCS chiller from Climaveneta on a rental basis that offers Class A energy efficiency ratings, non-ozone depleting refrigerants, an high COP rating and low noise Eurovent conformity.

The chiller is operating at -12ºC to preserve the quality of the ice on a 24/7 basis. Any nicks caused during the day by skaters is repaired overnight by the firm by reconstructing new layers of ice.

Cool Energy's service engineers will be maintaining the Eden Project's rink throughout the rental period, ensuring that its equipment operates effectively.

Munich, Berlin, Birmingham and Coventry are some of the cities to benefit from an ice rink created by the firm.

'The Eden Project is taking advantage of one of our most energy efficient chillers that fits in with their eco-philosophy but at the same time provides them with a very high quality ice-build,' said Russell Wilson, ICS Cool Energy's director.

'Our chillers help reduce power usage on site, CO² emissions and ensures power costs are reduced including diesel fuel for temporary generators used at seasonal events,' said Russell.
