Polish customs seize infringing refrigerant

Polish customs authorities have seized another shipment of infringing R1234yf refrigerant – the second seizure in Poland in just three months.

This seizure is the latest action taken by Honeywell in an attempt to stop the sale of infringing R1234yf refrigerant.

R1234yf is designed for car air conditioning systems and protected by numerous patents. In the past 12 months Honeywell has participated in multiple global product seizures and has brought patent infringement lawsuits against three entities either making or distributing the infringing refrigerant.

Honeywell is committed to providing customers with environmentally preferable refrigerants that are available quickly and are safe for their intended use; its refrigerants are subject to extensive quality and safety testing before they are sold.

Richard Winick, vice president and general manager, automotive refrigerants at Honeywell, said: “This latest seizure in Poland underscores how effective our joint efforts with authorities have become. It’s vital that R1234yf resellers and users purchase their refrigerant only from a reputable distributor to avoid potential legal, equipment and health risks to their businesses.”
