Lloyd Webber: No air conditioning holds back productions

ANDREW Lloyd Webber has claimed that the lack of air conditioning in many West End theatres is holding back productions.
Speaking to The Stage, the composer and owner of seven West End venues explained that his newest production - a musical version of Mikhail Bulgakov's Master and Margarita - could be held back as many theatres are listed buildings and so air conditioning cannot easily be installed.

He said: 'There are difficulties with these old buildings. For example at Drury Lane, we need air conditioning but how do you do it? It is Grade I listed. It's a big problem and one that I really am going to get my hands quite dirty with next year.'
