Genfrost purchases assets of SPG Limited

Genfrost/ES System K UK, has recently purchased some of the assets of SPG Limited.

SPG, the manufacturer and refurbisher of supermarket display units, went into administration in July this year following a difficult trading period due to a loss from a customer and a downturn in orders, according to administrator PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Through the purchase at auction in September Genfrost acquired state-of-the-art CO2 test labs, as well as foaming plants and presses and other vital manufacturing equipment.

The acquistion will allow Genfrost to be at the forefront of technology and to carry out in-house testing and expand its R&D department. It will also be able to produce any of the cabinets that SPG previously produced.

This joint venture between Genfrost UK & ES System K will form the new UK manufacturing plant ES System K UK and the company will be looking for new engineers and machine operators to join its team.

The company says it has taken the move following a sharp rise in demand over the last 12 months. It means it will be more flexible to customer demands with quicker turnarounds.
