Fläkt Woods, the Essex fan manufacturer, recently welcomed British Prime Minister David Cameron to its manufacturing site to view its world-class facilities.
On show was the new JMv Aerofoil, a fan developed by Fläkt Woods to reduce carbon emissions, increase fan efficiencies by up to 82 per cent and reduce running costs by an average of 17 per cent. The company’s fans are used in applications from general building ventilation, to car park fire smoke control, through to tunnel ventilation.
UK managing director and vice president for the Fan Business Unit, Ian Morehouse, met with David Cameron and together they viewed the production and engineering facilities and met team members. Ian highlighted how the new product range has been developed using advanced engineering design tools and emphasized that the advances in efficiency and performance come from taking the strengths the UK has in aerodynamic design into a commercial application.
David Cameron visited with Will Quince, who was elected as Conservative MP for Colchester last week.
Ian Morehouse said: 'We were very pleased to welcome Prime Minister David Cameron to our factory; it allowed us to demonstrate our technical capabilities and how we are developing our workforce that together push forward to improve our diverse product range to meet customer needs.'
Prime Minister David Cameron said: 'Backing businesses to create more jobs is central to our long-term economic plan. It was great to visit Fläkt Woods in Colchester with Will Quince to see their new product range. Apprenticeships offer people proper training and the prospect of a better future – it was brilliant to find that so many of the staff I met had started as apprentices. I wish them every success in the future.'
