Danfoss signs R32 research deal with Chinese university
[firstParagraph]
CHINA: Compressor manufacturer Danfoss is reported to have signed a new co-operation agreement with a leading Chinese university to research and develop R32 technology for its application in air conditioners.
Along with Daikin, which has already launched air conditioners running on R32 in the Far East and India, Danfoss has been at the forefront of research and product testing of compressors to operate on the 'mildly flammable' refrigerant. The Danish manufacturer has developed a series of R32 compressors for light commercial air conditioning system applications and prototypes are said to be at the final stage of testing.
This latest agreement will see Danfoss co-operating with Tsinghua University on research and development. Danfoss already has similar research agreements with seven other universities in China, Japan, USA, Spain and France
Following the agreement, Gilles Pradel, Danfoss Commercial Compressors' vice president global R&D, said 'Environmentally friendly refrigerant R32 is very promising and we hope to be able to further reduce energy consumption and the use of HFCs through the development of new air conditioning technologies in China and other countries.'
