Daikin Europe makes 1.9bn turnover

DAIKIN EUROPE NV has announced a 1.9bn euro turnover in 2007, up from 1.5bn euro the previous year.
The air-conditioning manufacturer's results for the 2007 financial year revealed sales of commercial air conditioning systems were up 25%.

Daikin sales were strong in all four product groups (air conditioning, applied systems, refrigeration and heating), and across its four major sales areas.

Of its sales areas Europe (including Turkey) was up 24% compared to the previous financial year, Russia plus the CIS countries was up 67%, the Middle East grew by 68% and Africa by 30%.

A warm spring resulted in strong residential air conditioning sales during the first half of the 2007 financial year. Residential units experienced growth of 30% over the previous financial year.

Product roll-outs including the multiple-scroll compressor and the introduction of centrifugal chillers to 9 MW, 'opened doors to a number of large projects'. The company said 'This strong product portfolio was reflected in a significant increase in the number of units sold'.

In the refrigeration sector, Conveni-pack, the Daikin all-in-one convenient store solution, was well received in the UK market.

The firm said success in the UK was boosted by the high level of support provided by the service network of J&E Hall. J&E Hall's product range allowed Daikin to approach the market with a larger range than previously.
