Coolsuredoors seals icy draught inside RAF Lakenheath's cold store

Retail refrigerated cabinet doors manufacturer and installer, coolsuredoors, has completed its second contract at RAF Lakenheath's commissary. The latest project, which was commissioned by Fridge Systems, saw coolsuredoors install a total of 15 doors over a three night period for the commissary's newly extended cold store.

In order to increase the size of the existing cold store, the majority of the existing five RIM cabinet components were removed to make space for the extension. The new cold store now has a frontage measuring 40 ft, it will display the store's dairy and milk produce ranges.

Starting the project on a Sunday night and handing over the completed project on the following Thursday, the coolsuredoors team converted the front of the cold store to retro-fit doors. In total three sets of five dual pane toughened glass doors were installed, along with LED mullion lighting.

There is also an automatic soft close mechanism on the doors that not only acts as a safety precaution for customers - reducing the risk of trapped fingers, but also improves the energy efficiency of the cold room by ensuring doors cannot be left open by shoppers. The combination of double glazed units and LED lighting provides a well-lit and unrestricted view of the merchandise.

Michael Tucker, managing director, coolsuredoors comments, 'This is the second project we have completed for RAF Lakenheath in a year. Both projects have been finished within an extremely tight time-frame with minimal disruption to trading.

'Our first project was the installation of 100 doors onto the commissary's meat and dairy cabinets and we have just finished fitting doors across the front of the extended cold store. The positive benefits of these alterations include a smart new look and feel to the store, cost savings on energy bills for the commissary together with an improved shopping experience for its customers. The updated store has undergone a major transformation and the client is delighted with the outcome.'
