Computers leading to increased air conditioning use
[firstParagraph]
Computers in schools are resulting in an increase in the use of air conditioning, according to a new report.
Open Dest consulting, support and outsourcing group, Sirius, has said that the increase in the number of computers in schools means that IT rooms are becoming increasingly hot.
Despite the fact that school computers spend most of their time idle, they still produce a significant amount of heat, but children cannot be expected to work in an ever-warming environment.
Therefore, even on cold days, schools sometimes need air conditioning systems in their IT rooms to counteract the heat produced by the computers.
Needs are likely to increase in the future, with the government aiming to provide a computer for every pupil, meaning air conditioning systems in schools will become more prevalent over the next decade.
