SABROE’S new SABCube screw compressor incorporates variable speed drive technology, optimised and combined with both a specially designed hybrid permanent magnet motor and a screw compressor with fewer moving parts and greater efficiency than the compressor it replaces.
The SABCube also features an innovative oil management system. These technologies are all fully integrated into one compact unit monitored by a Unisab control system.
The SABCube compressor package reduces energy costs by as much as 30%, claims Sabroe and the service costs have been reduced due to a design with less moving parts and a detailed preventative maintenance schedule.
The new Sabroe screw compressor range comprises 21 units with displacements from 204 to 9053m3/h and are designed for the most common refrigerants and process gases.
The range of Sabroe ChillPACs with reciprocating compressors has now been supplemented by a ChillPAC series based on Sabroe screw compressors. The combination of the new variable-speed screw compressor, SABCube, and the ChillPAC provides the customer with a number of benefits: 50% less footprint, 35% lower unit, 15% lower weight, 60% smaller ammonia charge and a reduced noise level.
Using the SABCube screw compressor with VSD also provides the chiller with an optimised COP and capacity/line power ratio and part load efficiency.
Sabroe has also introduced a new version of its Unisab controller. The Unisab III is suitable for use with both reciprocating and screw compressors and is web server-based for remote access.
Screws and recips
Sabroe offers both screw compressors and reciprocating compressors. They are designed to work with the vast majority of refrigerants in use both now and in the future. These include HFCs as well as natural refrigerants such as ammonia, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons.
While Sabroe compressors always incorporate the latest advances in refrigeration compressor technology, any design improvements are normally also compatible with earlier compressor models. This makes it easy to upgrade existing compressors to the latest designs and specifications, and thus benefit from the new features and improved efficiency.
Most Sabroe compressors are available with Rotatune variable speed drives to provide stepless control of compressor capacity.
Screw compressors
Sabroe provides an extensive range of screw compressors that meet the requirements of virtually any refrigeration plant or system, either as standard or in specially customised configurations. There is a choice of more than 20 standard models and sizes, covering capacities between 47 and 5638 m3/h swept volume at 60 Hz.All are designed to achieve maximum efficiency at both full and part load.
Reciprocating compressors
Sabroe’s range of reciprocating compressors is designed for use in refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat-pump operations in even the toughest industrial, marine and offshore applications.
The range includes more than 20 different sizes of single-stage reciprocating compressors.
Six are also available in high-pressure versions for heat pump operation using ammonia, for CO2 applications and for use with other high-pressure refrigerants, such as R410A.
Two-stage reciprocating compressors are available in 8 different sizes for use in low temperature applications.
In most low-temperature refrigeration installations, two-stage reciprocating compressors are more economical than single-stage screw compressors.
Sabroe TCMO and TSMC packages are designed to meet this requirement.
