CHINESE air conditioning manufacturer Haier has established what it describes as a "unique partnership" with UK wholesaler Dean & Wood.

Under the terms of the deal, Dean & Wood will effectively become the distribution division for Haier's packaged air conditioning products, leaving Haier UK to concentrate on key accounts and soon to be introduced applied products like VRF and chillers.
Announcing the appointment, Ted Berry said 'This is not a distribution agreement in the traditional sense because it goes much further. This is two organisations with complementary skills setting up an integrated working relationship.'

Existing distributors NRW, Hushon and BSS will now order through Dean & Wood on the same terms they currently have with Haier.
Dean & Wood md John Billson said 'Haier is a top brand and our partnership gives us exclusivity. This means we don't have competitors for Haier split systems, we only have customers. Other wholesalers can buy the products as customers of Dean & Wood.
He also saw no reason why Haier's existing distributors should fear this arrangement: 'NRW already buy from us and we have worked with Hushon before,' he said. 'They won't pay a higher price from us, but they will get a better delivery.'
