Aspen Pumps raises funds for local hospice

Aspen Pumps has helped to raise funds for local children's hospice Chestnut Tree House, based in Sussex.

The Aspen Pumps team presented Mikayla Bernstein, corporate fundraiser at Chestnut Tree House, with a cheque for £2,445.

Joe Rose, Aspen Pumps' head of group marketing, presented a cheque to Mikayla Bernstein, the charity's corporate fundraiser, on 1 November at the Aspen Pumps offices.

An impressive £2,445 was raised for Chestnut Tree House by 11 staff members, who cycled from the company’s headquarters in Hailsham, East Sussex all the way to Paris. The intrepid team covered 130 miles in just 24 hours, finishing at the headquarters of Aspen’s Paris based distributor, Salina SAS.

A number of the cycling team attended the cheque presentation.

The children’s hospice cares for and supports children and young adults from East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire who are unlikely to reach adulthood. It has a base in nearby Eastbourne for its team of community nurses, who care for children in their own homes across the county.

Mr Rose commented: “Myself and my colleagues who undertook this cycling challenge are delighted to have raised so much money for such a worthwhile cause. Whilst it was tough cycling so far in such a short space of time, our efforts have been totally rewarded by the great support we received from everyone who sponsored us - so thank you to every one of them.”

Ms Bernstein added: “Well done to the team at Aspen for completing their challenge and thank you so much for raising crucial funds for us as part of it. The money raised will be vital to us in continuing to offer care to children and families in the local area, and helping us to reach even more families who need our support.

“It currently costs well over £3.5 million each year to provide all the care services offered by Chestnut Tree House and families are never charged for their care. We receive less than seven percent of our funding from central government, so rely heavily on businesses like Aspen Pumps who take on amazing challenges to fundraise for us.”
