Advanced Air provides complete package for Nova project, Victoria

Fan coils, valve sets, diffusers, fire smoke dampers and control panels totalling £2.5m have been supplied by Advanced Air to Mace for the Nova project in London, Victoria.

Nova Victoria is an architecturally daring urban campus that covers a total of 5.5 acres of mixed development on an island site. Both commercial and residential buildings are air conditioned by four pipe cooling and heating fan coils from Advanced Air. In total there were 1,350 horizontal chassis units type ECO255 for the commercial building and approximately 1,000 vertical units EPIC280 and ECO255 for the residential application.

The fan coils were subjected to extensive independent testing at the BSRIA and SRL test centres. The residential fan coils had a complete downstream package comprising a specially designed plenum/attenuator which connected directly to the architecturally designed flowline diffuser, all supplied by Advanced Air and factory fitted where appropriate.

The Flowline diffusers deliver air to a shadow gap/slot so that when viewed from the room just a simple slot in the ceiling can be seen, keeping with the aesthetics of these luxury apartments.

At around 5.5 acres, the huge basement covered the whole site. Advanced Air supplied 450 high temperature smoke dampers which were designed so they could also be used as volume control dampers during normal operating conditions.

The dampers came complete with a special control system with variable decoders which eliminated the need to have two separate contractors involved (fire alarm contractor and BMS contractor) saving in both time and money.

The main organisations involved in the project were: Land Securities (developer), Flanagan & Lawrence (architects), Mace MEP (building services contractor) and AECOM and Hilson Moran (consultants).
