The Outspoken Engineer launches HVAC boxing series 'Face Off'

Three of the largest and most well-known manufacturers in the HVAC industry, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, and Panasonic, have stepped into the ring as part of The Outspoken Engineer’s Face Off series, filmed inside the iconic Dale Youth Boxing Gym.

The three-part series brought together leading names from across the HVAC sector in a boxing-inspired interview format, with each manufacturer taking part in a dedicated episode focused on technical insight, product development, real-world applications, sales, installation benefits, and the future direction of the industry.

Set in a venue normally reserved for champions, the series was judged by George Groves, former WBA super-middleweight world champion, and Lucas Roehrig, rising professional boxer. With the boxing bell marking the start of each round, the format gave each episode a
fresh energy while keeping the focus firmly on meaningful industry conversation.

This was not about creating a fight between brands. Instead, Face Off was designed to give HVAC professionals, engineers, installers, consultants, and decision-makers a more engaging way to hear directly from three of the sector’s most recognised manufacturers. Each episode gave the brands an opportunity to explain their position in the market, discuss what makes their products different, and share their thoughts on where HVAC is heading.

Jacob Swei, Founder of Sub-Cool FM and host of The Outspoken Engineer, said: “Face Off was created because we wanted to show the HVAC industry in a way people haven’t seen before. Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, and Panasonic all brought something different to the table, and taking those conversations into a boxing gym gave the whole series a completely different feel.

The aim was never to create conflict between the brands. It was about creating a format that felt bold, human, and engaging, while still giving the trade useful insight into the products, the technology, and the people behind the manufacturers. Having George Groves and Lucas Roehrig involved helped bring the concept to life, but the real value came from the conversations themselves.”

With The Outspoken Engineer now reaching 200,000 YouTube subscribers, the Face Off series forms part of the channel’s ongoing mission to bring more attention, personality, and visibility to the HVAC industry.

The full Face Off series featuring Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, and Panasonic is now available to watch on The Outspoken Engineer YouTube channel.
