SolarCool becomes ThermX

The UK-based company, SolarCool Energy Ltd, has begun a significant rebranding of its innovative ‘SolarCool’ Solar Thermal Collection System.

The UK-based company, SolarCool Energy Ltd, has begun a significant rebranding of its innovative ‘SolarCool’ Solar Thermal Collection System.

The patent protected technology which can be retrofitted onto existing refrigeration cycles, using the free energy of the sun to massively reduce the work load of the compressor, backed by independent testing data showing efficiencies of up to 75% when the sun is in the sky.

Since its inception in 2013, SolarCool Energy Limited has seen a dramatic increase in interest in its pioneering and innovative Solar Thermal Collection system, reporting domestic sales growth of 180%, and international sales growth exceeding 300% year on year.

In order to consolidate its worldwide brand across seven continents, the decision has been taken to move away from the existing ‘SolarCool’ brand, in favour of ‘ThermX’.

Commercial director, David Parsons, commented: “We are delighted with the growth that the company has seen over the last 12 months, and given the prestigious nature of our current portfolio of satisfied clients, expect to see that growth to continue.”

He added “Given the far-reaching installations of our technology, we have decided that the time is right to move away from the often negative connotations of ‘solar’, in particular the comparatively high ROI’s. Despite numerous real world accreditation provided by companies such as Toyota, Cummins and Intel, we still find that, at first glance, engineers write our technology off as being a variation of Solar PV. This could not be further from the truth! The fact is, Solar Thermal Assisted cooling and heating systems are the most energy efficient in the world, and retrofit solutions even in the North of England are seeing returns on investment comfortably under three years”

Roger Shenton, sales director, said: “It’s amazing how many calls we are now receiving from companies we approached two years ago. Word is getting around, that our technology is saving on average 40% of a compressors running cost. People are now calling us to ask us to talk them through the technology that they initially dismissed as they had already considered and/or installed solar PV”.

Part of the rebrand includes renaming the Company ‘SolX Energy Ltd’ in the UK and its international counterpart in the USA ‘SolX Energy LLC’. In 2016, the group formed exclusive dealer partnership agreements with companies in Australia, Poland, Japan and the Middle East, while growing its network of installations throughout the Americas.

Group ceo, Mark Crabtree, said: “2016 has been an amazing year for us and it is encouraging to see previously sceptical engineers now seeing the potential for solar thermal efficiencies. 2017 looks like being an exciting year for us and our international partners”
