Cold Move swallows £10,000 penalty after leak poisons brook.

COLD Move has been ordered to pay more than £10,000 for polluting a brook with ammonia.
The cold storage firm based in Oswestry, admitted a charge of causing poisonous, noxious or polluting matter to enter a local brook in November 2007.
As a result of the leak, invertebrates in Oswestry brook were killed and 24,000 litres of polluted drainage had to be cleared from the system.
A hole in pipework outside company's premises, where an ammonia-based refrigeration system is used,
resulted in the contamination of Oswestry Brook.
Following an investigation by the Environment Agency, Cold Move was fined £7,000 and ordered to pay costs of £3,324.31. The firm reported the leak in November 2007.
