CDL plans to expand following distribution deal

Managing director Darrel Birkett (pictured right with colleagues) said: “Our core business to date has been built in DX technology with a smaller involvement with Carrier hydronic systems. However, the addition of CIAT is highly complementary to our existing ranges, and gives us access to a new category of projects, enabling us to expand our offering to existing customers and win new ones.”

Cool Designs Ltd has revealed ambitious plan to expand following its appointment as a distributor for CIAT products.

Known for its technical expertise in VRF systems and split air conditioning, the established Toshiba distributor says the appointment opens up a vast new market in large hydronic-based hvac systems and other specialist areas.

CIAT’s wide offering includes high performance chillers, air handling units, roof-top systems, heat pumps and fan coil units and CDL will be offering the full CIAT portfolio.

The move enables CDL customers to cater for the needs of large commercial and industrial projects based on chilled water technology, a very important sector.

One of the most significant extensions to the range is in close control air conditioning. CIAT’s offering opens up the possibility of supporting projects in IT, process manufacturing and healthcare, traditionally considered high value due to their critical nature. Coupled with the launch of CIAT’s extensive range of new air handling units, available as entry-tier, mid-tier and high-tier, there is a solution for all applications.

The appointment of CDL as a CIAT distributor follows the recent global acquisition of CIAT by United Technologies Corporation (UTC), parent company of Toshiba Carrier. The move is being supported by significant investment in a global research and development centre based in France that will pioneer new technology and innovation in new products.

CIAT’s France-based parent company has more than 80 years of heritage in the sector, with nine factories and sales outlets in 70 countries around the world.

CDL reports that it is already working on proposals for several projects involving CIAT equipment. “We believe CIAT has the potential to become a significant part of our business in the future, and will grow substantially over time alongside our DX offering,” added Mr Birkett.
