E-CO has developed the first ever online suite of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) accredited courses designed to increase understanding of the use of Ultraviolet ‘C’ solutions in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
The firm has pioneered the use of UVC technology in HVAC systems across the UK. Its products use UVC light to destroy airborne bacteria, viruses and mould spores, thereby greatly improving internal air quality.
The company’s CPD courses include online questionnaires to test understanding and a CPD certificate is automatically issued when a module is passed.
The five courses introduce the use of UVC in HVAC systems and cover how it can save energy and improve internal air quality, its uses in the healthcare sector and how it may protect against bio-terrorism*.
E-CO’s managing director Hillary Spicer said: “We are proud to have developed our CPD accredited courses, which are essential tools for HVAC engineers and consultants wishing to grow their understanding of the uses of UVC technology.
“Installed at the cooling coils, our products deliver cleaner air by destroying bacteria, viruses, mould and spores in the air and by ensuring that heat exchange fins don’t become a breeding ground for harmful biological organisms in the form of bio-film.
“In addition to the clear benefits of improved employee health, higher productivity and lower sickness absenteeism; reduced bio-film build-up means that the HVAC system is more energy efficient and requires less maintenance.”
