Winner of ACR Trainee of the Year Awards revealed

The winner of the ACR Trainee of the Year Award 2013 was announced on 12 December at a special luncheon held at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield.
The awards were launched in December 2010 in memory of Fred Jamieson and to recognise, encourage and raise the profile of the trainees and apprentices in the ACR sector.

This year £20,000 was donated by the event for re-investment into training for the industry.

Darren Roberts, of Dixon Engineering and trained by Ellis Training Works, was announced as this year's winner of the Trainee Award. The judges said: 'Darren demonstrated real perseverance, even when the chips were down, and kept his focus on the goal. It's to his credit that he's won this award.'

Runner-up was Steven Burge of Cosham Refrigeration, trained by Eastleigh College. The judges said: 'Some very comprehensive and positive testimonials which added to his positive attitude brought him towards the top of the list. A deserved runner-up place.'

Highly commended this year was Philip Burgess of Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, trained by Coolink Technical Training Services. Meanwhile, a special commendation went to Jay Sheffield who is employed by Arctic Circle and trained by HGTA (Hereford Group Training Association).
