Waitrose to trial chiller using 1234ze Turbocors
[firstParagraph]
KLIMA-THERM, the South-London-based company which has pioneered trials of the new HFO refrigerants in chillers, is set to claim another first with a chiller using Danfoss's super-efficient oil-less Turbocor compressor and HFO1234ze.
Ironically, it was Klima-Therm who announced the launch of just such a chiller in January 2011. The introduction was subsequently put on ice when Danfoss Turbocor insisted that their compressor had not been verified for use with HFO refrigerants.
Unperturbed, Klima-Therm pressed ahead with HFO developments, claiming a world-first trial of a Geoclima chiller using a Frascold compressor running on 1234ze at a Waitrose supermarket in Bromley, Kent, in November last year.
With Danfoss Turbocor finally announcing the availability of 1234ze prototypes earlier this year, Klima-Therm has revealed that Waitrose owners the John Lewis Partnership have since ordered two Turbomiser chillers for trial at a store in Milton Keynes.
