US army adopts Reflect Scientific's cryogenic freezing technology

A US military contract worth $300,000 has been awarded to Reflect Scientific for its cryogenic freezing technology.
Utah-based Reflect Scientific says its ultra low temperature model T-150 is the first liquid nitrogen based, programmable cryogenic freezing system in a standard upright format.

Reflect Scientific claims the T-150 freezer gives up to 90% less electrical consumption, reducing annual electrical use by more than 34,000 kilowatts per freezer, per year at a setpoint of -86°C through electrical design and the elimination of refrigeration compressors.

The freezer can be used for research, forensic, hospital and clinical laboratories where refrigeration and cryogenic preservation is required.

The new contract is unrelated to the $900,000 contract the firm received two weeks ago from the government.

Reflect Scientific develops technologies in cryogenic cooling for the healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical, industrial, and transportation markets. Among its products are low temperature freezers and refrigerated containers for laboratory and transportation uses.
