UK hosts international fridge conferences in 2010

THE UK refrigeration industry has a chance to showcase its innovations in cold chain and sustainable refrigeration when two major international refrigeration conferences come to the country in March 2010.
The first International Institute of Refrigeration sponsored International conference on the Cold Chain, and a parallel Refrigeration and Sustainability Conference will take place over three days at Selwyn College, Cambridge from March 29-31.

The Cold Chain conference will explore the latest technological developments across the food, pharmaceuticals and other industries. The parallel conference, Refrigeration & Sustainability, will focus on environmental issues and innovation.

'This is an excellent opportunity to put the UK more firmly on the international map and to get a full picture of the work that is taking place on these two distinct yet interrelated themes', said Robert Heap, chairman of the conference planning group.

As hosts for the event, the IoR and SIRAC are expecting to attract up to 150 delegates and over 60 different papers.

A call for papers has already been issued and the organisers say they would particularly welcome applications for papers which showcase UK innovations and practical case studies. Short abstracts should be submitted to the IoR by September 15.

Delegate fees for the full two-day programme including a half-day's pre-registration event start at £400 inclusive of two nights accommodation.

The last time the UK hosted a large scale international event of this nature was the IIR Gustav Lorentzen Natural Working Fluids conference held in Glasgow in 2004, which attracted over 300 delegates.

The Institute is offering sponsorship packages ranging from £1,000 for sponsorship of the CD-rom proceedings to £5,000 for headline sponsorship of the events.
