Trane completes two high-end UK projects

Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, has recently completed two high-end projects in the UK – installation of high performance, high efficiency chillers at an upmarket hotel at Heathrow Airport, and the installation of a heat pump rooftop system at a luxury car dealership.

Two of Trane’s high performance, high efficiency air-cooled Sintesis chillers have been installed within a high-end hotel at Heathrow.

Trane RTAF Sintesis is part of the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise portfolio of products, designed to lower environmental impact with next-generation, low-GWP refrigerants and high efficiency operation.

These high performing and climate-friendly HVAC systems feature a modular and flexible design to meet customer needs as they work to achieve energy efficiency and sustainability targets.

The two new Sintesis RTAF 170 HSS chillers are expected to save Trane’s customer a considerable amount of energy while improving the overall performance of their HVAC system.

As a fluctuating comfort cooling load will be implemented, it was key to use the RTAF HSS model with its outstanding part load efficiencies. A combination of inverter and screw compressor technology brings significant efficiency gains to the Sintesis RTAF, while the micro-channel condenser coils contribute to increased sustainability and lower refrigerant charge reducing the overall chiller weight.

The Adaptive Frequency Drive improves part load efficiencies and capacity modulation, and reduces current inrush by five times. Meanwhile, the Trane patented flooded evaporator (CHIL) reduces refrigerant volume and improves efficiency/footprint ratio. The RTAF chillers also feature dual independent refrigerant circuits for extra resilience.

Other options available on the Sintesis range include multiple refrigerants including near-zero GWP refrigerant R1234ze; hydraulic kits with dual pumps; smart flow control (VPF); partial and total heat recovery, free-cooling heat recovery, EC fans; SmartCom, Modbus, BACnet, LonTM Trane BMS Interfaces.

Trane has also recently installed a new packaged heat pump rooftop unit to a luxury car dealership.

The Trane Airfinity series is a portfolio of light, compact and modular plug-and-play rooftop HVAC units ideal for retail and warehouse applications. The portfolio was designed to save installers’ time and reduce first and ongoing maintenance costs by improving efficiency of existing commercial buildings that require customisable solutions to meet their unique needs.

The new Airfinity Packaged Rooftop will save a considerable amount of energy year on year and improve the overall performance of the HVAC. With reduced energy and maintenance costs, the customer can save money on HVAC expenditure and invest it where it matters most: their business.

With the highly configurable plug-and-play solution and thanks to its compact design and integrated controls, the units provide the customer with high configurability to meet their needs, plus ease of installation.

All Airfinity units deliver high seasonal efficiency standards and feature EC fans, electronic expansion valve, double skin panels and a modulating economiser as standard. The economiser allows introduction of fresh air into the building, as well as free cooling when conditions are favourable, saving up to 20 percent on annual energy consumption.

Other options include quick roof mount adaptor curbs; energy recovery modules; power barometric relief modules; and Trane Concierge control for easy control of multiple unit installations.

Both Sintesis and Airfinity portfolios are compliant with the applicable European Ecodesign Regulations under the Energy-related Products (ErP) Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament.
