Training brings new life to former factory

TOSHIBA'S former UK air conditioning factory in Plymouth, which ceased manufacturing in June last year, has become the centre for the company's first hands-on customer training facility outside of Japan.
Training brings new life to former factory
It shares the former manufacturing plant with the warehousing, distribution and spares departments that have occupied the site since the closure. The company's former contract storage warehouse in Bridgwater has now closed and all Carrier and Toshiba stock transferred to Plymouth.

Based on the Japanese training facility, the centre can accommodate up to 50 engineers at a time with enough space for teams to work on fully-functioning equipment in the large training area.

The facility currently houses the latest Toshiba SMMS and SHRM VRF and the new Daiseikai split systems with multiple control options, including BMS, interactive intelligence and touchscreen controls and a variety of indoor unit choices such as ducted and cassette units.
