Torin-Sifan celebrates 50th anniversary

Torin-Sifan, a leading producer of energy efficient fan technology to the European air movement industry, is celebrating 50 years of British manufacturing with the completion of its new EC manufacturing and technology centre at Pagoda Park in Swindon.

The new 25,000sq ft facility is set to become the company’s centre of excellence in the design, development and manufacture of highly efficient EC (electronic commutated) motor and fan technology. Over the last decade legislation aimed at reducing energy consumption of building products has driven significant migration to EC technology and with demand continuing to grow significantly, Torin-Sifan’s new centre provides the manufacturing capacity needed to meet future requirements. The company says that the hi-tech environment is in keeping with the technologically advanced nature of EC products and provides an excellent platform for continued product and technology innovation.

Commercial director of Torin-Sifan, Paul Kilburn, said: “With demand for our EC products at record levels, we are delighted to be able to open this new, world-class manufacturing facility here in Swindon. We firmly believe that the significant investment in our infrastructure and capability will enhance our position as a key technological partner within the European HVAC markets we serve.”

This expansion follows five decades of manufacturing at their HQ in Swindon. Manufacturing of the firm’s traditional AC (alternating current) motor based technology will remain at the Swindon HQ.

The new facility has created 25 new jobs, primarily in advanced and applications engineering for its EC products. The centre will be officially opened in January 2015 by a Westminster official.
