Philip Sloper, managing director of wholesale distributor Thermofrost Cryo Plc, will retire on 01 October 2014, after 35 years with the company. Fellow directors Alan Wright and Steve Mace, who between them have 43 years’ service with the company, will take over his duties as joint managing directors.
Philip Sloper, managing director of wholesale distributor Thermofrost Cryo Plc, will retire on 01 October 2014, after 35 years with the company. Fellow directors Alan Wright and Steve Mace, who between them have 43 years’ service with the company, will take over his duties as joint managing directors.
Mr Sloper entered the refrigeration and air conditioning industry in 1979 as general manager of Delta Cryo, a distributor of
refrigeration valves and fittings. When the company was purchased by the compressor specialist United Termofrost, and the two businesses merged to become Thermofrost Cryo, he was appointed to the main board as marketing director.
The product portfolio was then steadily expanded to include the complete range of refrigeration equipment, controls, electronics and components, and in 1998 a major expansion saw air conditioning systems added to the product range. In 2002 he was instrumental in the purchase of Manchester wholesaler RCL, and in 2004 became managing director on the retirement of his predecessor, Andrew Barwick.
Mr Sloper is a longstanding member of the Institute of Refrigeration and in 2007 won the Executive PA magazine award of “Boss of the Year”. He will continue to stay in touch with the acr industry which has played such an important part in his career.
