Supermarket Refrigeration: Painting the right picture

IN THE retail world it is seen as being vitally important to project the right image to the customer. This is no where more true than in the case of supermarkets.
Supermarket Refrigeration: Painting the right picture
Refitting and refurbishment is a fairly regular exercise, whether to replace tired or damaged display equipment, present a new corporate image or refit a new store or acquisition.

In many cases only new display equipment will do, in others refurbished cabinets offer a more economic alternative. Either way, their replacement often entails major disruption and inconvenience. There is, however, a quick simple and cost effective alternative for cosmetically-damaged equipment – spray painting.

Kerry Commercial Services has been established for more than 15 years, and in that time has supplied its services to all of the country’s top supermarkets. Kerry has developed a service applying a low cost, highly durable electrostatic finish for refrigeration units, shop fronts and in-store displays. The finish is very vesatile, being suitable for practically any material including wood, plastic, metal, laminate and stainless steel.

What’s more, the painting can be carried out in-situ and ensures minimum disruption to the store. Most projects can be completed overnight, often without the need to empty the cases. However, where there is a need to de-merchandise, the coating is touch-dry in just 20 minutes and completely dry within one hour.

The coatings are foodsafe and are manufactured specifically for use in the food retail environment.

The savings are impressive, up to 75% according to Kerry. “A typical end-wall replacement, not including installlation, would cost between £250 to £325,” said Roger Peach. “One of our resprays would cost around £110.”

Kerry operates nine mobile crews, all of whom are directly employed, and a fast response is promised.

The company also offers on-site refurbishment of check-outs including replacement of idle rollers, conveyor belts, electrics, lights, bodywork, paintwork and bump rails.

“Our two decades of experience dedicated to the food retail industry, along with our extensive coverage across the UK and Northern Ireland, means we are ideally placed to provide high quality, cost effective and timely recoating services every time,” said Roger Peach.
