Starfrost celebrates 30th anniversary and unveils new headquarters

Starfrost is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and has just relocated its UK headquarters and manufacturing base to a new purpose built facility at Oulton Broad, near Lowestoft, in Suffolk.

At over 1,000 square metres, the waterside business premises at Craftsmans Way hads office space and meeting rooms, as well as a large engineering workshop and equipment maintenance centre.  With further space available on site for future expansion, the new facility will provide Starfrost with an ideal base for many years to come.

The site also houses a fully equipped test facility which simulates different freezing and chilling processes.  This allows Starfrost engineers to calculate the optimum conditions required for each food product.

Established in the UK in 1984, Starfrost is an international leader in bespoke IQF (Individual Quick Freeze) equipment.  To date its UK-based engineering team has worked alongside food manufacturers in more than 50 countries worldwide to develop custom designed IQF solutions.

Starfrost equipment is custom designed and built at its UK manufacturing facility.  The company’s freezing and chilling range includes Spiral Systems, IQF Fluidised Tunnels and Contact Freezers.

As part of the recent expansion, the company has appointed Sam Welch as UK & Ireland sales manager. A new service manager has also been appointed, to boost customer support and after sales service.  In addition, Starfrost has increased its permanent manufacturing workforce with the appointment of a new engineer.

Sales director Rob Long said: “Our success over the past thirty years has been built on our commitment to developing bespoke equipment and pioneering advancements in IQF technology.  Our new headquarters and manufacturing base will enable us to meet increasing demand from our growing customer base of food processors in the UK and worldwide.”
