Space name dispute settled

DAIKIN distributor Space Airconditioning and Bristol-based refrigeration contractor Space Cooling Systems have settled their dispute over the 'Space' name.
In May last year, Space Cooling Systems Ltd, one of the UK's largest independent refrigeration and m&e contractors, changed its company name to Space Ltd, rebranding itself as Space, to reflect the wider range of services they offered.

Guildford-based Space Airconditioning immediately raised an objection believing that the name change might cause confusion in the industry.
In a joint statement the directors of the two companies said: 'We are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached, to rename Space Ltd as Space Engineering Services Ltd, with effect from March 2007.

'It has been agreed that this decision will alleviate the possibility of our respective business activities, and our existing and future clients, becoming confused as a result of both highly respected and successful companies being known by a similar name.'
