SkillFRIDGE 2020: Deadline for registration extended to 5 May

Talented apprentices and students in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry that wish to kick start their RACHP careers and hone their skills are invited to register for SkillFRIDGE 2020, with the deadline for registrations now extended to Tuesday 5 May.

The competition aims to connect young people with the industry and provide a platform for aspiring engineers to grow to their full potential; learning best practise, getting hands on with the latest technologies and developing their knowledge and skills along the way.

Prior to registering, all apprentices must complete the preliminary test (to be carried out by a training provider). The resulting scores must be submitted during registration and the test papers must be submitted to SkillFRIDGE for verification.

Registration can be completed using the online form available on the WorldSkills UK website.

An update regarding regional heats

From this point onwards, the SkillFRIDGE competition series would normally be in full swing with apprentices across the country competing in regional heats in an attempt to gain a coveted spot in the WorldSkills Final.

However, in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, SkillFRIDGE and WorldSkills UK are taking extra precautionary measures to safeguard all competitors, staff and their communities. As such, all qualifiers will be postponed until further notice and the organisers are working to secure alternative arrangements in line with government advice.

In relation to the recent developments regarding the coronavirus, Karena Cooper the SkillFRIDGE competition operating partner, has commented: “We are busy encouraging registrations, sponsor engagement and media activities. The outbreak of the COVID-19 is very concerning, and the health and safety of staff, judges and competitors is our number one priority.”

All involved in the SkillFRIDGE competition series will be kept informed with the next steps and timelines and the latest information will be available on the SkillFRIDGE website.
