SkillCard: time for renewal?

THE operator of the Engineering Services SkillCard has introduced a simple renewal process for those holders with cards reaching their expiry date. Since being introduced in late 2001, thousands of cards have been issued to individuals across the hvacr sector. The first tranche of these cards are now reaching their expiry date.
For those cards due for renewal, SkillCard will initially write to employers at regular intervals between three and six months in advance of due renewal dates to gather information on employee movement, eg change of address, leavers and starters.

Eight weeks prior to expiry, cardholders will be sent a renewal pack, including a renewal application form. A similar pack will be sent to their last recorded employer, to allow the latter to liaise with their employees and, if preferred, to co-ordinate applications on a company-wide basis.

Registered individuals will need to check and update the information recorded on their SkillCard, undergo an appropriate health and safety awareness test, and arrange for their employer to sign the Employers' Endorsement part of the renewal form.

The completed renewal form will then need to be returned to SkillCard along with an up-to-date photograph and the appropriate renewal fee.

For further information on Engineering Services SkillCard, call the SkillCard helpline on 01768 860406 or visit the SkillCard website at skillcard.org.uk
