SBS's FORS Silver certificate.
The award has been granted to the entire SBS fleet of vehicles, compromising LGVs, 3.5T flatbeds and small box vans.
The FORS is a voluntary accreditation for fleets of vehicles such as buses, coaches, vans and trucks, which aims to help improve vehicle safety and efficiency, while also protecting the environment.
To achieve the upgrade to the silver award from the bronze, SBS has fitted its vehicles with in-cab recording, audio indicator sirens, and side and rear cameras to help the driver manoeuvre safely.
SBS is one of the largest and oldest independent merchants operating in the UK, focused on supplying to the commercial and industrial mechanical services sector. Operating across England and Wales, SBS boasts a 14-depot network which includes a head office in Blaby, Leicester.
The business places a continual emphasis on reducing its CO2 emissions to ascertain that its vehicles conform to the ‘low emission zones’ which began operation in 2008, administered by the Transport for London (TfL). Using the latest guidelines, SBS has ensured that its fleet meets Euro 6 standards.
