Scotsman launches CO2 ice flaker

SCOTSMAN is said to have successfully completed trials of a CO2 ice flaker. Based on its MF 58 Split model, the ice flaker was trialled in Toulouse, south of France in conjunction with the Carrefour supermaket group.

The new icemaker is designed to 'plug and play' with Carrfour's existing CO2 cascade refrigeration systems. Carrefour has a stated commitment to convert 700 of its Europe wide stores to CO2 systems.

Described by Chris Davis, commercial director of UK distributor Hubbard Ice Systems as 'a major turning point in modern ice making technology', the CO2 Scotsman has a 16% increased production capacity - compared to a traditional MF58 using HFC refrigerant - of up to 700kg/24hrs.
