RSL launches R404A replacement

RSL has developed and launched RS-100 (R464A), a low GWP drop-in replacement for R404A.

RS-100 has been developed as a replacement for R404A.

The low toxicity new refrigerant is non-flammable, with a higher capacity and energy efficiency.

RS-100 has been assigned a refrigerant number of R464A from ASHRAE with a safety classification of A1, boasting low toxicity and non-flammability under all conditions of fractionation.

RS-100 has the lowest global warming potential (GWP) of non-flammable drop-in replacements for R404A and is another addition to the RS range of refrigerants. It will be an important factor in replacing R404A within the EU under the F-Gas regulation, which targets refrigerants with high GWPs, and in particular R404A and R507.

The much lower GWP of RS-100 enables three tonnes to be used, in comparison to one tonne of R404A under F-Gas.

In addition, and due to its non-flammability, RS-100 is suitable to replace R404A in existing equipment, with no changes to the hardware or the lubricant required.
