Room air conditioner demand continues to grow

WORLDWIDE demand for room air conditioners is expected to increase by 6% per year to 2010, reaching $20.5bn, according to a new report by the US-based Freedonia Group.
Unitary air conditioner demand is projected to increase 4.2% per year over the same period, reaching $13bn. Demand for other types of cooling equipment, including dehumidifiers, packaged terminal air conditioners, chillers and absorptive liquid chilling systems, is forecast to rise 6.1% per year to $10.7 billion in 2010.

Larger increases are expected in Asia, particularly China and India, as well as in Europe.
