Retentions: "no happy ending"

THE Government has again come under fire over retentions, this time from the new president of the ductwork contractors association ADCAS.
New president Paul Roxburgh said 'So far the opportunity to get rid of retentions offered by the 2012 Olympics has been ignored - despite all the promises. The amount of retention money owed to our members at any one time - on a day to day basis - represents a very serious lottery win, but one without a happy ending in sight,'

ADCAS maintains that its members, often being in the position of sub-sub-contractors, run the risk of being pressured into accepting a higher level of retention - 5% in place of a contract limit of 3%. 'We urge members to resist - and report this malpractice wherever it occurs,' he added.
