Retail refrigeration gets green action plan

THE Institute of Refrigeration, the British Refrigeration Association and the Carbon Trust have put together a plan of action to help cut carbon emissions in retail refrigeration applications.
The plan will be launched in Cambridge on March 29, prior to the IOR's 1st IIR International Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain.

Researchers behind the project investigated technologies that could be potentially used in the food retail sector and prioritised them according to the carbon saving potential, cost and commercial maturity.

Firms can use the plan to learn the next steps to take for their business. It will also help suppliers, manufacturers and advisers to work with customers to encourage the use of efficient technology for retail refrigeration.

The plan was developed thanks to meetings last month for IOR and BRA members. A team of authors researching the project included Judith Evans and Graeme Maidment of London South Bank University.

Open to all, attendees to the launch at Selwyn College on March 29 from 2-3pm, will receive a copy of the project report. Places are limited. To book email RebeccaWoollam
