Refrigerated display cabinet market to hit $5.34bn by 2017

A NEW report from Global Industry Analysts, Inc. suggests that the world market for refrigerated display cabinets (RDC) will boom in the coming years.
The report proposes that a change in lifestyles and expendable income that will result from an increase in urbanisation, and greater demand for refrigerated products will specifically increase the demand for RDCs in supermarkets, hypermarkets and grocery shops to preserve, store and transport temperature-sensitive products.

The report tracks current trends which are compelling refrigerator manufacturers to redesign equipment to suit the properties of natural refrigerants. RDCs using hydrocarbon refrigerants are experiencing a surge in demand already, with the report identifying the global trend in consumption by as much as 30 per cent in the near term.

The food and beverage sector is expected to remain the most lucrative end-use market for commercial refrigeration largely due to the growing number of food retailers and continued popularity of frozen foods. Refrigerated display cabinets together with walk-in refrigerators currently account for about 45 per cent of the global commercial refrigeration equipment market.
