A RECENT survey by Daikin distributor Space Air has revealed just how ignorant the UK public is of air conditioning, particularly heat pumps, and how home owners are totally unaware of Government reductions in VAT on heat pump installations. As a result, Space Air has called on energy minister Malcolm Wicks to make a more formal announcement about the potential benefits for customers.
Of the 1,000 people surveyed, no-one was aware of the VAT reduction on heat pumps to just 5%. Space md Neil Afram maintains that the Government has failed to communicate its latest energy conservation initiative to the general public. 'We believe the minister should be urged to step-up the current education programme with all speed,' he said. The VAT reductions were announced in the last budget and first reported in the June issue of ACR News.
