Since its 2003 inception, Blended has established itself as a reliable, competitively priced provider of specialist chemical and gas products. The team's dedication and strong customer focus has earned high praise over its 20 years and as we celebrate this milestone, we take pride in our collaborations with both nationally and globally recognised brands, reflecting our commitment to high levels of service and tailored solutions.

Of course, we cannot truly celebrate our current standing without appreciating the journey that led us here. In 2006, a mere three years after being established, Blended installed its first liquefied gas filling plant. A small yet significant stride into being able to fill our own bulk gases. By 2013, we had installed and commissioned a filling plant which would cement our position in the UK market for one of our original core products, anhydrous ammonia; the following years brought fresh opportunities through proud strategic partnerships with gas industry giants, such as Air Liquide and Air Products.

In 2019, a new brand identity was introduced, with a look and feel to demonstrate our evolution and encapsulate the quality for which Blended is recognised. The momentum continued into 2020 with the launch of the Coolblend fluids range, quickly followed by the installation and commissioning of a sulphur dioxide plant the very next year.

With two decades of company success and a team of directors with experience totalling almost 100 years, we navigate an ever-evolving chemicals and gases industry. This wealth of experience has provided us a keen understanding of market trends, enabling us to adapt, diversify, and grow in harmony with industry. This evolution has seen Blended expand its horizons and adopt a focus towards products in and around the renewables sector. What began as a modest family business has grown into a well-known brand in the speciality chemicals and gases sector, while importantly, managing to preserve our core values. Our relationship with our customers has always been central to Blended's ethos, enabling us to achieve our current level of growth by understanding and catering to our customers' needs.

Growth has led to a journey into heat transfer fluids and ancillary products, which now also includes testing. The Coolblend range became a Blended product line in March 2020; it was our solution to help customers maximise their systems’ potential. Using our in-house chemist’s expertise, we formulated a range of speciality chemicals that enhance system efficiency and lower operational costs. The high-performing, market-leading properties of our Coolblend products mirror our team's knowledge and experience and their connection with our customers.

Nevertheless, progress is constant, and every customer question uncovers another opportunity. We constantly strive to provide innovative solutions, created to support our customers endeavours across industries that constantly encounter new challenges and unveil new technologies to face those challenges, particularly developments aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

In light of this, 2023 has seen 2 further additions to our Coolblend range; Coolblend OIL, a range of highly efficient refrigeration compressor lubricants, and Serviceblend AIR, an all-in-one biocide and inhibitor for frost protection valve using air source heat pumps and closed-loop heating systems.

With Coolblend OIL, our arrival into lubricants stemmed from conversations with our customers, who sought a supplier with instant availability of Ammonia lubricants. The new range comes with a huge additional bonus of optimising refrigeration efficiency. Given the high energy demands of industrial refrigeration, we realised an efficiency-boosting solution could not only save our customers time and money but also support the UK's journey towards achieving Net Zero.

Serviceblend AIR was developed to offer installers the convenience of a product that combined a biocide and inhibitor in a concentrated, low dosage solution. With 1 litre of Serviceblend AIR providing ongoing protection over a broad temperature range for up to 180 litres of water, we delivered on our promise of easy installation while also meeting the British Standard 7593:2019.

However, our growth is not solely about business expansion; it's also about our team and how they develop. At Blended everyone, some of whom have been with us since the very beginning, gets an opportunity to leave their mark.

Blended is the culmination of all the individuals who’ve stayed late and worked weekends to passionately develop their bit of the world with shared experience helping everyone to collectively progress; and as we celebrate our 20th birthday in October, we thank every single one of them.
